Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. The Origin Series, previously War of the Roses, for the inter-county rugby league matches between representative teams from Yorkshire and Lancashire, the areas where rugby league has traditionally been most popular in England. Player eligibility for the Origin Series is based on the player''s region of birth. Players born outside of Yorkshire and Lancashire are also eligible for selection, based on the region where they first played rugby league at professional level. "War of the Roses" games began in 1895, but ceased in 1989. They were revived in 2001 under the name of the Origin Series, inspired by the success of State of Origin matches in Australia between New South Wales and Queensland. The Origin Series was reduced to a one-off Origin Game in 2003 due to the British hosting the touring Australia, New Zealand A and as well the kick off of the Rugby League European Nations Cup. So together with the Challenge Cup, WCC and Rugby Super League, the RFL felt that too many Origin matches would be too much strain on the top players. The tournament was then rested due to apathy from rugby league supporters.

Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. The host nation for the Rugby World Cup is decided by the International Rugby Board (IRB) at a special meeting six years in advance of the tournament. The choice of host nation is a highly anticipated event. To date the Rugby World Cup has been hosted by three southern hemisphere nations (Australia, New Zealand and South Africa), in Oceania and Africa, and three northern hemisphere nations (England, France and Wales), all in Europe. Neither Asia nor the Americas have hosted the tournament yet, although Japan will host the 2019 tournament, after failed bids for the 2011 (awarded to New Zealand) and 2015 (awarded to England) competitions. The original idea of hosting a Rugby World Cup was brought up by Australia when they floated the idea of hosting such an event for the centenary celebrations of rugby union in Australia.
