In the recent years the Open Source Software (OSS henceforward) development movement gained a considerable attention from various academic research fields. Due to the nature of the OSS development process namely that it involves contributors from many different locations and that organizations sharing code to develop and reform programs, requires an interdisciplinary understanding.During fall 2008 the world economy experienced dramatic falls in the GDP leading to a deep recession. According to the FLOSSmole project - an internet based collaborative collection and analysis of the free/libre/open source project data - the number of registered projects to the OSS hosting sites started to decrease since late 2008.Through a review of the existing literature in this book an econometric model was developed in order to investigate different macroeconomic factors that might be influential on the behaviour of OSS activity. By analyzing the software industry as a whole the results were put into an exploratory framework which helps the understanding. The results should be useful especially for professionals in the Software Industry and academics from the Economics field.

YapBrowser, also known as YapSearch or YapCash, is a rogue Web browser that was removed from the Internet after security researchers found it was serving up child porn advertising. It eventually reappeared, with a peculiar twist, it now came with the odd claim that users could expect protection from harmful exploits and viruses. The site hosting the browser download originates from Russia and includes an "adult version" that lets users search for and browse pornography-themed content for free. The site even offers a "100% guarantee" that no malicious system infection will occur when using the software, but security researchers tracking the seedier side of the Internet have flagged YapBrowser as a serious threat to computer users. The first sign of YapBrowser trouble came in April 2006 when malware researchers discovered that the browser was serving up spyware and underage porn advertising.

It uses a desktop client to store the full content of a user''s weblog on the user''s computer, and provides a mechanism for uploading it to a shared server. Server space at UserLand''s radio.weblogs.com site was included in the annual registration fee from the start, and continued after UserLand''s founder sold most of weblogs.com to VeriSign in 2005. Radio users also have the option of uploading their weblog content to a server at another Web hosting service.

Mythryl is a general-purpose, modular, functional programming language with compile-time type checking and type inference supporting both scripting and application development. Mythryl is self-hosting, that is to say the Mythryl compiler is written in Mythryl.Mythryl is derived from SML/NJ, a compiler and programming environment for Standard ML. It differs in that SML/NJ is a platform-neutral research testbed with an idiosyncratic syntax derived from Robin Milner''s work with the logic framework LF, whereas Mythryl is a Linux-centric production-oriented software development platform with a C-flavored syntax.

Distributed under the GNU General Public License KForge is open source software. KForge is written using the Python programming language and integrates existing best-of-breed tools. KForge provisions project services on-demand and controls access with a robust, role-based, single sign-on access controller. Project services include version control systems (e.g. Git, Mercurial, Subversion), project frameworks with mechanisms to plan and track work (e.g. Trac), wikis and mailing lists (e.g. MoinMoin, Mailman), and content management systems and blogs (e.g. Joomla, Wordpress).

It is easily accessible from Kaihin-Makuhari station on the Keiy Line of East Japan Railway Company (JR East). The center is the host of the annual Tokyo Auto Salon (modified car show, in January), the biennial Tokyo Motor Show (in October), the annual Tokyo Game Show (video game hardware and software exhibition, in September), and the annual Jump Festa (manga, anime, and video game exposition, in December). The venue was noted in 2005 for hosting the first round of the Live8 concert. Event information, access details, and other information can be found in English at the official site.
The growth of biostatistics has been phenomenal in recent years and has been marked by considerable technical innovation in both methodology and computational practicality. One area that has experienced significant growth is Bayesian methods. The growing use of Bayesian methodology has taken place partly due to an increasing number of practitioners valuing the Bayesian paradigm as matching that of scientific discovery. In addition, computational advances have allowed for more complex models to be fitted routinely to realistic data sets.Through examples, exercises and a combination of introductory and more advanced chapters, this book provides an invaluable understanding of the complex world of biomedical statistics illustrated via a diverse range of applications taken from epidemiology, exploratory clinical studies, health promotion studies, image analysis and clinical trials.Key Features:* Provides an authoritative account of Bayesian methodology, from its most basic elements to its practical implementation, with an emphasis on healthcare techniques.* Contains introductory explanations of Bayesian principles common to all areas of application.* Presents clear and concise examples in biostatistics applications such as clinical trials, longitudinal studies, bioassay, survival, image analysis and bioinformatics.* Illustrated throughout with examples using software including WinBUGS, OpenBUGS, SAS and various dedicated R programs.* Highlights the differences between the Bayesian and classical approaches.* Supported by an accompanying website hosting free software and case study guides.Bayesian Biostatistics introduces the reader smoothly into the Bayesian statistical methods with chapters that gradually increase in level of complexity. Master students in biostatistics, applied statisticians and all researchers with a good background in classical statistics who have interest in Bayesian methods will find this book useful.
